Informational road signs, often referred to as information signs, serve to provide drivers and pedestrians with important guidance related to navigation, points of interest, and services available in the area. These signs are designed to enhance safety and improve the efficiency of transportation by giving critical information that helps drivers understand their surroundings.

Information signs typically include details such as directional guidance, distance markers, and points of interest (such as rest areas, gas stations, hospitals, etc.). Their primary role is to assist with navigation and to inform motorists about available resources that can aid in their journey.

In contrast, warning signs are designed to alert drivers to potential hazards or changes in road conditions. Regulatory signs indicate laws and regulations that must be followed, such as speed limits or stop signs. Construction signs are temporary and provide information regarding ongoing construction work and potential detours or lane closures. Each of these categories has specific functions focused on safety and compliance rather than the more general information provided by informational signs.
